Negative Self-Talk

Negative self-talk is that inner voice that likes to put a damper on everything good that we are aiming for in life.  Just when you think that you are getting somewhere, there is that annoyingly discouraging voice in your head.  When I have spoken to others regarding negative self-talk, the consensus is that it appears to have a grip on all of us. It seems easier for us to buy into those bad thoughts somehow rather than choosing to acknowledge our inner strength and courage.  I wish I knew why we all struggle in this way or had a magic answer to deal with it.  I have a few suggestions that you can try and am always open to other ideas.

Personally, I like to surround myself with positive people that believe in me to help combat the flood of negative thoughts that try to ruin what I would like to accomplish.  It may help to keep a journal or a list of all the positive things that you have achieved so far and keep adding to it with every new accomplishment.  Therapy can also be a powerful tool that can aid with many difficult personal issues.

Start today and hold on to one positive thought about yourself and don’t let go of it despite the negative self-talk that will try endlessly to keep you from your personal best.  We all need someone on our team…I believe that what YOU choose to achieve, YOU can do!!
